Our Pastor, John E. Raines

1I have the great honor, privilege, and responsibility to serve as pastor of Alvin Missionary Baptist Church. I was first introduced to the congregation, that I now serve, in the spring of 1997. Like many men being called to the ministry, I went through a period of “running from the call” and subsequently left after only a couple of months. However, God was not done with me and saw to it that I and my family returned in the Fall of 2000. It was not long after, on July 22, 2001, that I surrendered to the call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason, AMBC holds a very special place in my heart.
I met my wonderful wife, Angela, in the Fall of 1988 and we were married on December 26, 1992. We have since been blessed with two children, Sheldon and Ashton. We are originally from Timpson, Texas and have been in Alvin since 1997.
There is something that everyone should know about Alvin Missionary Baptist Church – it is one of the most loving church families I have ever met. I believe this love for one another, which is a biblical love described in John 13:34-35, is going to be used by God for His honor and glory as we grow together not only in our relationship with one another, but also in our service to God.
Finally, consider Colossians 3:23-24, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; (24) Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Let us come together and serve the Lord heartily for His honor and glory.
